About Us

The practice of dentistry is a vital and highly specialized service with a limited number of practitioners. The business of dentistry is complex, combining the challenges and opportunities of healthcare and retail operations. All constituents benefit when professionals are supported in a way that allows them to provide more focused care to more patients.

Dentistry is about caring and talented practitioners providing a vital service to their patients. Dentists choose the profession as a result of the convergence of their unique skills and a great need in society. This is a powerful confluence.

In addition to entering a market that needs their skills, dentists encounter a complex and ever changing business environment. This environment is increasingly risky for dentists and their patients. Dentists are carrying a far greater financial burden in completing their education and in establishing and maintaining a practice. Patients feel the squeeze of rising costs throughout the healthcare continuum and difficulty in identifying a general dentist and specialists to meet their needs efficiently.

At One Smile, we have spent the last two decades navigating these challenges to deliver value to all of our constituents. Each is equally important to the success of the organization.

The Star Thrower, has been adapted in countless ways over the years but the message remains the same, often times in the rush of life we forget that even the smallest things in life make a difference to someone. In our case, we believe that it is through small and consistent, everyday actions we can build a great organization.

“While wandering a deserted beach at dawn, stagnant in my work, I saw a man in the distance bending and throwing as he walked the endless stretch toward me. As he came near, I could see that he was throwing starfish, abandoned on the sand by the tide, back into the sea. When he was close enough I asked him why he was working so hard at this strange task. He said that the sun would dry the starfish and they would die. I said to him that I thought he was foolish. There were thousands of starfish on miles and miles of beach. One man alone could never make a difference. He smiled as he picked up the next starfish. Hurling it far into the sea he said, “It makes a difference for this one.” I abandoned my writing and spent the morning throwing starfish.”
